Goal
The Koko'okolu Community Pediatrics Fellowship Program (KCPFP) at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and the Department of Pediatrics in the John A. Burns School of Medicine is seeking three applicants for fellowship positions on a rolling admission basis. Please contact the Program at info@kcpfp.org or 808.271.6980.
- Three-year post doctoral fellowship program funded by the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA).
- The goal of the fellowship is to train child health leaders to conduct community-based participatory research and to be effective community practitioners and medical educators.
- Fellows receive advanced instruction in epidemiology, biostatistics, participatory research methods, study design, qualitative and quantitative measurement, cultural competency, medical education, and issues facing under served populations.
- Fellows work closely with faculty mentors to develop their research skills and to complete a participatory research project on a health issue affecting under served children.
- Fellows spend approximately 60% of their time in formal course work and research activities. The other 40% time is spent in clinical activities.
- Fellows receive a Masters of Science in Clinical Research degree from the University of Hawai'i.
Funding
A DHHS grant for HRSA includes stipend, tuition, educational expenses, and travel benefits.
